This past week, demand was light, trade was moderate, and prices were
mostly steady.
Reports have come in stating that 1st and 2nd cutting has been "good"
quality or higher with most reporting high yield.
However, demand is still way off with most contributors reporting that
they have had very few calls for new crop hay.
According to the U.S.
Drought Monitor for the week of June 10th, Kansas saw the most widespread
improvements, especially in the southern and eastern regions, where
many areas received over two inches of rain, leading to significant
one-category upgrades.
However, north-central Kansas received less precipitation, and drought
conditions there either persisted or worsened.
The categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased
significantly to 26%, Moderate drought (D1) increased to 13%, Severe
drought (D2) stayed at near 1%, and no Extreme drought (D3) or Exceptional
drought (D4) was recorded.
